birthday girl ann

At the conclusion of our Team Vision Retreat, we headed to the newest restaurant in Fort Portal, "The Duchess"to celebrate Ann's Birthday!

team vision and mission retreat

After 4th of July festivities, our team bunkered down for 3 days together to discuss our mission, vision, team covenant, personality types, and conflict resolution. As intense as that sounds, we also relaxed together in the beauty of Kluges Guest Farm. After two years of team transition, we are being blessed with teammates who live to serve Jesus in education, medicine, nutrition, orphan care, literacy, agriculture, water, and internship mentoring.  Amen.
Breakfast together at Klugues

As we talked about personality types and how God uses diversity for his glory,
Ann led us in a game of "Eye, Body, Hand"

Can we work together with the gifts we are given to accomplish a purpose?
Even finding an object in the field is not easy unless we work together!

Ok, this is staged. While we are not the most charismatic group,
we did enjoy singing together while Josh played the guitar.

Ann shares her graphic organizer in our discussion about conflict resolution.

4th of july festivities

We gathered with other Americans that serve in the western Uganda region to celebrate the 4th of July. It was a day of swimming, watermelon, picnic lunch, baseball, tye dying shirts, paper airplanes, glow sticks, sparklers and ended with worship songs around the campfire.

BuHaHo CEP

Recently, our interns Summer and Emily joined Chrissy for a Community Empowerment Program Fair at a local primary school. It was sponsored by the local ngo, Bundibugyo Hand of Hope, which is led by CSB alum Sunday Godfrey. This grassroots effort was a special day for the community.
The parents have a garden in effort to raise money for the school.

Summer, Chrissy and Emily led the Nutrition Booth at the Fair

Ann, Lilli, and Aidan learn from the students about the Community Empowerment Movement.

The display shows what type of pencils they had before the CEP and what kind they had after the program. It was sobering to me that having good pencils was a real source of pride for the students.
